I am so glad you posted about this chimney swift tower. I am in the process of research on these towers. I live along the Georgia coast and am working with Jekyll Island's Conservation Manager to build one of these towers. It is great to see one working. How is it doing?

HI, how are you? I was happy to have found your peaceful blog... with my link on your page! I shall do the same :D

I really really liked this recollection, such a special time, thanks for sharing it. You have to wonder, What was he thinking? and wouldn't it be something if we could sit together and enjoy fruit?

Thanks for visiting my blog!

I did love that pic of the groundhog. They look so cute.

I'm glad that St V Day isn't so big over here (UK). We do have the cards and roses and heart-shaped chocolates in the shops, of course, but there isn't the pressure don't you don't need to think you're odd if you 'don't have anyone'.

My partner is away at the moment, visiting family in Ireland. He hid a card and a pair of bright pink fluffy socks for me. LOL! That is what the day is about- making someone smile. Sorry your card didn't make you smile at the time. Hope you've had lots of smiles since ;^)

Thanks everyone for dropping by. I wish we could have all had tea and some of my famous raisin rumble. You know, I've never told that story before because I always felt so embarrassed when I thought about it. But hey--I was young and very, very sensitive (now I'm only very sensitive). Guess I can laugh at myself easier now and definitely try not to take things so seriously. I still have that card and I still have that friend, although I don't see either one very often. The card's in a box in the attic and my friend is still in Illinois (a policeman in his home town) and I'm in North Carolina. When my husband and I go home to see my Mom, we always stop by to visit him and his wife and kids. We never mention the groundhog card, though. Hey Wanda, fellow redhead, I can appreciate your story, too. Words last forever, don't they? Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh I remember just such a feeling one time when I was feeling rather heavy...had gained a few pounds and my husband and I were talking about a woman in our church who is delightful and lovely and thin. He made a complimentary statement about her, and then turned to me and said...But Honey you are so beautiful on the inside. He meant it sweet...but I secretly cried for days.... That was so many years ago, but when I read you Valentine piece, that old hurt feeling was relived.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.....Not true!

Love your blog...I'll be back...thanks for coming by mine.

I used to be a redhead...by 66 years has given me "highlights of silver" (haha :))
